Oahu Pictures - Ala Moana Beach - Pictures of Oahu
Oahu Pictures - Ala Moana Beach - Pictures of Oahu - Park sits directly across from the Ala Moana Shopping Center, just west of Waikiki. It was once part of the same wetlands of kiawe trees and coconut palms until they dredged coral from the ocean to create the Ala Wai Canal. It was then that Ala Moana was converted into a 76- acre park full of boundless multi-use trails, banyan trees, and coconut palms.
At the east end of Ala Moana Beach is a large lagoon with golden white sand and calm, serene waters creating the most warm, tranquil environments. The ocean bottom is a twenty-five foot deep channel originally maintained as a boat for a boat landing. Because of its length and depth, it is a popular place for swimming laps because the reef sits safely two or three hundred feet offshore. Two beautiful boat harbors border the east and west ends of Ala Moana Beach Park.
