Maui Pictures - Wailea Beach
Maui Pictures - Wailea Beach - If you paddled kayak around the northern point of Polo Beach the next beach you’d land at would be Wailea Beach. To get there from the road you’ll have to find the public parking lot between the Grand Wailea Resort and the Four Seasons Resort. It’s kind of tricky.
Once you see the Grand Wailea and pass its third entrance you’ll be going uphill. Immediately at the top of this hill is a right turn into the Four Seasons service entrance. If the parking lots near the beach are filled there is overflow parking on your left on the way back out. Wailea Beach is another sliver of soft reddish-white sand bordered by lava formations reaching out to the sea.
Snorkeling here is excellent around the northern point. The shore-break is a little more rough at the south end, good for body surfing. During summer swells there is a surf break out at the point. Wailea Beach faces west towards the island of Kahoolawe and the Molokini Crater giving it spectacular ocean vistas. The beach also gets crowded by the resort vacationers, but maybe they’ll let you partake in the resort amenities as well.
