Maui Pictures - Kaanapali Beach

View of Kaanapali Beach, Maui.

Maui Pictures - Kaanapali Beach - On Maui’s west side three miles north of Lahaina is Kaanapali Beach. This resort beach stretches three miles along some of the largest hotels on Maui. There are many restaurants and boutique stores. Some can enjoy shopping while others enjoy activities and afterwards you can meet for lunch or dinner at Hula Grill or Leilani’s on the Beach. Watch the sun set over Molokai while sipping Mai Tai’s and enjoying a fresh meal.
At the north end of Kaanapali Beach near the Sheraton Resort and Spa is a lava rock wall called “Black Rock”. This is a great snorkel and swim area. The wall acts as a buffer from the wind and the ocean keeping the water here clear and calm. Maui legend has it that those who dove from a certain spot on this rock wall would enter into the next world. Every night at sunset the Sheraton Hotel sends a diver out to the rock to honor the legend by completing a ritualistic dive.
Today anyone can have fun cliff diving at Black Rock. There is a nice snorkeling spot around the point. And if you can swim over 500 meters you can reach the other side of Kaanapali Beach. Here is more warm white sand as far as the eye can see.
