Kauai Pictures - Waimea Canyon State Park
Kauai Pictures - Waimea Canyon State Park - is the largest Canyon in the Pacific, ten miles long, two miles wide and 3,600 feet deep. Waimea Canyon is also called the "Grand Canyon of the Pacific" because of its resemblance. With its deep reds, greens and browns, each created by a different volcanic flow over centuries, some have the impression that Waimea Canyon is more colorful than Grand Canyon. Numerous lookouts and hikes offer spectacular views of this natural wonder. The canyon encompasses 4,345 acres of land and has 45 miles of trails that run through the canyon and the nearby Alakai Swamp. Waimea Canyon Road provides excellent lookouts of the Gorge, at Kalalau Valley and Na Pali Coast. No gas stations are located along this road.
