Kauai Pictures - Tunnels (Makua) Beach

View of Tunnels (Makua) Beach, North-Shore, Kauai
Kauai Pictures - Tunnels (Makua) Beach - Close to the Na Pali Coast, about 5 miles west of Hanalei Bay, located just east of Haena Beach Park is a section of beach called “Tunnels Beach”. Technically part of the same sandy beach as Haena Beach and yielding even more incredible ocean scenery. Tunnels Beach is a two mile stretch from Haena Beach Park all the way to Wainiha Beach Park. It is an area made popular by Hollywood movies. Film makers love to use Kauai’s north shore in many of their block buster movies, such as the movie “South Pacific”. Surfers like to name Makua (Tunnels) Beach because of its surf-break, but it’s more aptly named for its incredible snorkeling and diving opportunities in the summertime. Tunnels (Makua) Beach is great for both beginner and advanced snorkeling as it is a protected lagoon teeming with sea life on the inside, while offering even more exciting conditions on the outer reefs in waters up to 70 feet. If it’s windy you might see kite-surfers doing their thing. There is a lifeguard station located at Makua (Tunnels) Beach but it is closer to Haena Beach Park.

Bio about Kicka Witte, Photographer of Tunnels (Makua) Beach Image:

I love my job! I am so blessed to be able to do what I love for a living and I never take that for granted. When I step behind the camera, I enter another world and I bring that to you. My favorite subjects are people, they don't know how beautiful they are and it's my job to be the mirror that makes them see their beauty. My second favorite subject is nature, I am just humbled by it's beauty and to go out in the wilderness to merge with it, is where I feel the closest to God. It's really not me taking the pictures, I'm just a vessel pushing a button, there is something larger then little me that takes over when I go behind that lens... no awards or educational diplomas really count, it is the pictures that speak to you and touch your heart that matter. If I made you feel something good, you just made my day. As you admire my photograph, you will guide me in my next photo shoot and therefore I am utterly grateful to you. Thank you and may your day be blessed with love and joy!
