Kauai Pictures - Polihale Beach
Kauai Pictures - Polihale Beach - is found past Kekaha State Park, at the end of Route 50, via an access road. Once you pass the Pacific Missile Range you’ll veer right when you see the sign for Polihale State Park. Go less than a half mile and you’ll see another sign advising you to turn left.
You will then drive over a five-mile dry and rutted dirt road to get to Polihale Beach Park, but its mild, and the payoff is definitely memorable. Polihale is dramatic and beautiful against the sheerness of the Na Pali cliffs. It has a magical feel like you're at the end of the earth, eternity, definitely one of the loveliest sites on Earth to behold.
From Polihale Beach Park the islands of Ni'ihau and Lehua are easily visible, making sunsets spectacular. There are restrooms, showers, a picnic area, and campsites available, but no lifeguard. Camping is allowed, but only by permit. High surf and strong currents can be a factor here so always plan your trip and exercise caution. Heavy rains can sometimes close down the access road.
Bio about Kicka Witte, Photographer of Polihale Beach, Kauai Image:
I love my job! I am so blessed to be able to do what I love for a living and I never take that for granted. When I step behind the camera, I enter another world and I bring that to you. My favorite subjects are people, they don't know how beautiful they are and it's my job to be the mirror that makes them see their beauty. My second favorite subject is nature, I am just humbled by it's beauty and to go out in the wilderness to merge with it, is where I feel the closest to God. It's really not me taking the pictures, I'm just a vessel pushing a button, there is something larger then little me that takes over when I go behind that lens... no awards or educational diplomas really count, it is the pictures that speak to you and touch your heart that matter. If I made you feel something good, you just made my day. As you admire my photograph, you will guide me in my next photo shoot and therefore I am utterly grateful to you. Thank you and may your day be blessed with love and joy!
