Maui Beaches & Beach Parks (1 of 4) Maui has some of the most beautiful beaches in the world, all of which are accessible to the public. Beaches account for more than 32 miles of Maui's 150-mile coastline. CENTRAL MAUI BEACHES Ho‘okipa Beach - This is one of the world’s top windsurfing and surfing spots, offering both waves and wind to the adventurous. If surfing culture is your thing, you’ll not fail to find it here. Warning! This is not for beginners and swimming is risky here! Small BBQ areas and plenty of viewing spots will allow you to check out the wave action. Free parking is available in one of two lots. Located on highway 36, about 2 miles northeast of Paia. Baldwin Beach Park - This is the best beach all-around beach on the windward side of the island, a mile west of Paia and only 10 minutes from the airport. Numerous shorebreaks make for good body boarding, and the hard-packed sand is great for walking or running. The shore bottom is almost pure sand, but as with all windward beaches, the wind can be pick up in the afternoon, especially in winter months. Public facilities include good restrooms, numerous grills, picnic tables (covered and uncovered), and a soccer field. Lifeguard stand. Paia Bay Beach - Just at the edge of Paia town, this is a favolrite of bodyboarders when the surf is up, especially in winter. A convenient place to take a quick dip amidst shopping at Paia's shops, the small beach includes public restrooms, shower and basketball court. |
