Getting Around Maui (3 of 3) OTHER MAUI TRANSPORTATION Maui Bicycling Maui also has many miles of designated bikeways on the public roads. Bike rental shops abound in all sections of the island. Expect to pay around $10 to $20 a day for rental. A free map showing all the bike paths is available from the Mayor's Advisory Committee on Bicycling: (808) 871-6886. Maui Public Buses Public mass transportation is almost non-existent on Maui but there is a relatively new and rudimentary public bus system for travel between Central, South and West Maui. View the New Maui Bus Schedule Maui Limousine Services • Arthur's Limousine Service - (808) 871-5555 or (800) 345-4667 Offers a variety of limo options at various prices. • Carey's Town & Country Limousine Service - (888) 563-2888 Offers deluse limousine service on all the major Hawaiian islands. • Wailea Limousine Service - (808) 875-4114 or (808) 661-4114 Servicing the South Shore and the West Side (Lahaina area). Maui Mopeds & Motorcycles Mopeds, motorcycles, and other forms of transportation are also available for rent. Check the local Telephone directory yellow pages for a selection of these services. All two-wheelers are required to wear eye protection. Helmets are optional. Mopeds have certain driving restrictiions. Maui Shuttles Some hotels, especially in the resort areas, offer shuttles as an easy option to get around in a limited area. Check your hotel for availability. • Kaanapali Trolley Shuttle - (808) 661-7370 This free shuttle runs within the resort between 9am and 11pm and stops automatically at all Kaanapali hotels and at condos if you request. • Maui Ocean Center Trolley - (808) 270-7000 Runs from South Maui in Makena beginning at 8:30am, throuh Kihei and stops at Maalaea Harbor Ocean Center, before heading for Whaler's Village in Kaanapali. • SpeediShuttle - (808) 875-8070 Door-to-door service to and from Kahului Airport and most Maui resort locations. For airport pickup, dial 65 on the Courtesy Phone in the baggage-claim area. • TransHawaiian Airporter Shuttle - (800) 231-6984 or (808) 875-8070 Buses leave from Baggage Claim 3 at Kahului Airport between 9am and 3pm for Lahaina and Kaanapali. From West Mauii, departures from 10am to 4pm. Reservations required 24 hours in advance. • Wailea Shuttle & Kapalua Shuttles - The Wailea Shuttle and the Kapalua Shuttle both have free shuttle service within their respective areas. Schedules are widely available in each resort. • West Maui Shopping Express - (808) 877-7308 For shoppers in particular, the double-decker West Maui Shopping Express will take you to and from Kaanapali, Kapalua, Honokowai, and Lahaina. The last shuttle is around 10:00 pm. Pick up a schedule at your hotel. |
