Plant & Animal Restrictions for Kauai Visitors

Kauai Pet Restrictions - Do not attempt to bring your dog, cat, bird or other pet to Hawaii. Long quarantines (30 days) guarantee a less-than-fun detention time for your pet. Likewise, all plants and plant products are strictly controlled by the U.S. Department of Agriculture. You will be required to fill out a form on the airplane specifying any plant or animal you have brought with you to Hawaii.

Kauai Ecology - The state’s island ecology means tight controls on what is allowed. This policy has worked well to keep rabies and many plant and animal pests from inadvertently damaging Hawaii’s finely balanced ecology.
