The journey begins at a working ranch where real Paniolos (cowboys) will greet you. Canter up green pastures to the edge of a lush tropical valley and discover some of Maui's largest waterfalls.

Mount Up For a Glimpse of Maui's Romantic Past
Ride into the magical Waihee Valley with its Hawaiian plantation homes and taro patches, through grazing cattle to the crystal-blue waters of the Pacific Ocean, where we will be glad to take a picture of you on horseback with the majestic seascape as a background.

Ride With the Paniolos!
Your journey begins at Mendes Ranch corral, where you're greeted by real Paniolos (Hawaiian cowboys). Your narrated tour will take you up rolling pastures into the lush rainforest for views into Eki Crater and some of Maui's largest waterfalls.

The tour continues down the mountain where you'll see Hawaiian taro patches and plantation homes. As you ride through Waihee Valley you'll have picture perfect views of the Pacific Ocean, Central Maui and Haleakala before heading back to the ranch.

Choose From Two Horseback Rides

Aloha Horseback Ride: A 2 hour ride, with refreshments but no BBQ lunch, morning or afternoon available.

Paniolo Horseback Ride: A 2 hour ride with 1 hour Paniolo-style BBQ lunch (Mendes Ranch Ribs, Smoked BBQ Chicken, Baked Beans, 2 Salads, Roll, Fruit Juice, Soda, Water and/or coffee), morning or afternoon available.

Or mount up for Hawaii Horseback Riding in Haleakala Crater

Location: Ranch is in Waihee, 15 minutes from Kahului Airport
Children: Under 7 years old are not allowed on this tour. Book children 7 & older as adults.
Inclusions: All tours include refreshments and views of the Pacific Ocean, Central Maui, West Maui Mountains, some of Maui's largest waterfalls and Haleakala.

Restrictions:
• No pregnant riders
• No children under age 7
• Maximum weight is 250 lbs.

The trail was very dusty, it may be better to inform people who have respiratory conditions. The facilities were dirty. I know it is hard to keep a ranch clean but if the public is being served, it is necessary.
