You'll bike down the world's largest inactive volcano with only 400 yards of pedaling. Often you will stop for a picturesque Maui moment.
Choose from "Classic" or "Super" Tours. With Super Tours, guests board a Polynesian Adventures deluxe mini coach for a tour of the park and Haleakala Summit, then return to the lower elevation to begin the bike ride.
1 & 2 - Sunrise Safari

3 & 4 - Day Safari By Maui Downhill - Guided Bicycle Tour
• Exactly the same as Sunrise Tour. Ride starts from appx. 7000 feet, just outside Halekala National Park. Pickup time approx. from 7:15 to 8:00am and return approx. at 3:15 to 4:00pm.
• Bring cash or credit card to pay for Upcountry Lunch at a fine Upcountry restaurant.
• This upcountry experience offers vista dining and outstanding meals midway through the tour. We use some of the finest Upcountry restaurants for the Super Sunrise Upcountry Breakfast and the Super Day Tour Lunch.
5 - Haleakala Bike & Winery Safari by Maui Downhill - Guided Bicycle Tour
Safari van tour ascends to the top of Haleakala Ranch at the 6500’ elevation outside the National Park. Tour Guides will go over a comprehensive safety briefing Including Hawaii’s bicycle safety regulations and tour guidelines.
Downhill bike safari gently descends the western slopes of Haleakala volcano with two safety stops in the switchbacks for rider evaluation, rest and photo opportunities. Tour includes:
• A round trip transfer from your hotel or condo.
• Continental breakfast, pastries, hot beverages and restrooms are provided at our base office.
• Bicycle helmets and windbreakers are fitted to each guest for their comfort and tour safety.
• Two experienced tour guides will be with you to answer any questions.
• Eucalyptus forests and the upcountry community of Kula with its beautiful lavender farms and Jacaranda tree lined roadways will complete the bicycle portion of your safari.
• Safari van tour continues from above Pukalani and travels to Ulupalakua with photo stop along the way.
• Enjoy a no host picnic lunch at Ulupalakua ranch.
• Walk the grounds of Maui's only winery and enjoy free tasting of local wines.
Guidelines and Tips
• Wear warm clothing in layers.
• Competent riders - please, no beginners.
• Sorry, NO PREGNANT WOMEN.
• Minimum 12 years of age.
• 5 feet tall guideline height.
• Wear close-toed rubber soled shoes.
• Riders must sign acknowledgement of risk and safety form.

Children must be at least 12 years old and at least 5 feet tall and pay the same price as adults.

The activity was a bit misleading. It was a sunrise bike ride down Mt. Haleakala, but you didn't see an actual sunrise (since we were facing west) and we didn't see the crater because the tour does not go to the summit. Biking itself was fun and the guides were very good.

There was a problem with Hawaii Downhill knowing our location. Having never stayed on Maui, we could only tell them the name of the resort, which we had as the Ka'apanpail Beach Club. When we contacted Hawaii Downhill upon our arrival, the person taking the call asked me if it was the hotel. (Little did I know that MANY resorts/ hotels in the area had Ka'apanpali in their names!) I told her, no it was not an hotel, but a resort. When it was time for pick-up at 2:15 am, our ride did not come. We called AGAIN. . . and the driver came (he'd been waiting at the hotel.) We left and had a wonderful experience. . . after the frustration of the waiting/ calling mix-up. Please remind these agencies that we realize they book folks every day. . . but we aren't familiar with the area. the person on the phone should have asked more questions if she was unclear about our resort!

The bike ride no longer goes all the way to Pi'ia. This should be reflected in the literature describing the event.
