Children: (15 & older)
Enjoy a rigorous, 16-mile kayak tour of the Na Pali Coast, the world's most beautiful and remote shorelines. Meet early in Poipu, and ride together in our 15-pax van to the launch site in Haena.
After about an hour's paddle we'll come upon the famed sea caves of Na Pali, entering if sea conditions permit. We'll raft up our kayaks for juice and snacks at mid-morning.
Paddle a total of 11 miles in the morning to our first landing, which is at Milolii, the site of an ancient Hawaiian fishing community, where we'll have lunch. After lunch we have a 4- mile paddle in typically calm water to Polihale, where our van will be waiting for us.
This is a very long, strenuous paddle in typically heavy seas. Don't sign up unless you like vigorous exercise and are up for a challenge. While this tour is best enjoyed by people who are physically fit and have some basic paddling experience, you may join us as a first time kayaker if you consider yourself to be athletically inclined and quick to learn new sports. Of course, this trip is not for non-swimmers.
The Best Kayaks! We use double open-cockpit, or, sit-on-top, self-bailing type kayaks with foot pedal controlled rudders to facilitate safety and ease of operation. You'll be given a lightweight fiberglass paddle with a tether, and a life vest as well.
Warning: If you are prone to severe seasickness this trip is not for you. If you feel that you may get nauseous, but not severely so, we recommend motion sickness medicine such as Bonine, Dramamine, or Triptone.
What to Wear & Bring? Aqua socks or Tevas, swimsuit, light shorts, T-shirt, billed hat or visor, H2O-proof sun block, raincoat or windbreaker, sunglasses with keepers, towel, H2O-proof camera, and a change of clothes for the ride back.
