Witness Kaua‘i's spectacular engineering feats as you float down the tropical waterway consisting of open ditches, tunnels and flumes all of which were engineered and hand dug circa 1870. Glide on your tube through the underworld with a headlamp to lead the way. At the end of your tubing adventure, you'll be guided to an enchanted picnic area for a great picnic lunch next to a natural swimming hole.
Tube Plantation Ditch System
The Lihue Plantation irrigation ditch and tunnel system once irrigated vast sugar crops on Kaua‘i but has been unused since sugar was taken out of production in 2000. The irrigation system runs through some of the most beautiful land on the island with spectacular views of the ocean, coastline and valleys. Beginning near the top of Mount Wai‘ale‘ale, the waterway and ditch system wind through open canals, rushing flumes and mysterious tunnels.
The gently flowing irrigation water creates a tubing adventure perfect for all fitness levels - something fun for everyone. After a scenic ride to the top of the mountain, you can hop in your tube and away you go. This is the perfect adventure for all!

Tours depart 1/2 hour after check in
Location: Departure from Hanama'ulu HQ, 3 miles north of Lihue
Children: 5 & older only - pay same price as adults. Must be a minimum height of 43 inches. Children 15 & under must be accompanied by an adult.

• All Kauai Backcountry Adventures tours are non-smoking and non-alcoholic
Note: 72 hour cancellation policy for groups of 6 or more.

water time was limited-they tried to fill in time with "lunch" & vista viewing-a three hour activity was only a 45 minute tubing experience.

My wife and I were in Kauai from 9/25 thru 9/28 celebrating our 40th Anniversary. The backcountry tubing adventure was one of the highlights of our stay on the island. The crew was fantastic and made the entire adventure extremely memorable. We were fed sandwiches, chips, and softdrinks for lunch. The sandwiches were fresh and the crew sat and talked with everyone during lunch. I would highly recommend this activity to anyone vacationing on the island of Kauai.
