The diving conditions at the bay are fantastic. Water temperature is consistently 76-82 degrees with visibility typically over 100 feet. You will experience fields of coral providing food and shelter to a wide array of tropical reef fish, turtles, dolphins and whales in the winter season.
On the morning (4½ hours) cruise, delight to a continental breakfast before and barbecue lunch after your dive. With 2½ hours at beautiful Kealakekua Bay Marine Sanctuary, there will be plenty of time to snorkel, sunbathe, use the water slide and all the water toys available.
Afternoon Snack Snorkel Cruise
The afternoon cruise (3½ hours) also offers snorkeling fun for the entire family. No breakfast or lunch is served. Included are delicious Hawaiian fruits and light snacks with 1½ hours water time at the bay.
well worth the money and effort
Your check-in procedure was extremely cumbersome. We were traveling as a group of 7, including an 85 yr old senior. I stood in line for 15 minutes to check in for our group only to find out that EVERYONE in my party had to make their way thru the SAME LINE again, waiting as I did, just to sign a waiver. Yes, they were all adults. The lady finally agreed to let me run a separate clipboard our to my dad to sign, rather than make him also go into the building. Then, we waited in the equipment line for another 10 minutes, only to be sent away to "get our equipment onboard". We then waited in the line to get onboard for ANOTHER 15 minutes! Silly process in the hot sun...
Was a fabulous experience, we saw a pot of dolphins swimming alongside our boat.
The water at Kealekekua Bay was crystal clear and excellent for snorkeling. Don't snorkel at one small spot for too long as there may be others that offer better aquatic life viewing. Though this is not a "true" sailing tour (though the sails were up, we motored almost the entire way) and we didn't see dolphins, we still enjoyed the tour without regrets.
