John was an amazing guide. He is very accomodating and helpful. In the beginning of our trip, he performed a traditional Hawaiian song to call the dolphins, which was beautiful. The dolphins had migrated to an area that was unusual. John was able to find them and we had a life-changing experience. We also saw a mother whale with its calf and was able to get close enough to hear them spout. He gave us an incredible tour. We will be referring our friends to him exclusively.

Location: Honokohau Harbor
Time: Check-in 7:45am, returns 12:00pm.
Schedule: Daily, year-round excursion.
Children: All ages pay same price as adults.
Included: Mask, snorkel, fins, water and snacks.

What to Bring: Sunscreen lotion and a towel. We suggest wearing a swimsuit under your outer-wear/sarong. A wetsuit, lycra top or spring-suit is recommended for the winter months, although not essential.
Want to Take Photos? Bring along ASA 200 (or 400) film; a 80-200 mm zoom lens is helpful.

John Float made this trip truly special for my partner and I. We felt like we'd hit the swim-with-dolphins jackpot after seeing the chaotic energy that many of the other tours brought to the experience. We happened to be the only two on his boat that day, making our time that much more special and personal- and I believe he would only ever take six at maximum. This is the way to go! When we arrived to the area where they were playing, we were the first in the water and enjoyed incredibly close proximity swimming with what seemed like 30-40 dolphins at a time... they were swimming all around us and almost playing with us directly. It is truly amazing to drop your ears into the water and suddenly hear all the communication going on between them (the small portion of it our ears can perceive). Then, as the larger tour groups would arrive and cause the dolphins to move away, we would get back in the boat for a rest and some yummy snacks (provided by John) and gently move in the direction the dolphins took. Then, back into the water for some more incredibly up close swimming- just wait until you make eye contact! We did this for several hours... just amazing. John's clear love and respect for the dolphins and his warm and inviting spirit made this experience the highlight of our trip. Mahalo, John!
